Behind The Photograph
A few pointers.
Development
From my understanding of Mercedes-Benz AG, their color profile tends to have depth in their color palette. Yes, I’m spelling color the American way. In this photograph, the taillight is of EU spec, hence no marker light, in comparison to a US Spec variant of this vehicle.
I shot this photograph outside with publicly available lighting.
I wanted the photograph to have a little depth, hence my choice of using a Sony 70-200 GM II at the full 200mm.
Understanding that there is a considerable amount of depth to the vehicle from the side profile (spoiler, taillight curve) I decided to step up to a higher f-stop, f/3.5 to ensure we do not loose emphasis on the spoiler and surrounding body lines.
Typeface
From Daimler’s website, Daimler outlines two variants of their typeface.
– Mercedes-Benz Corporate A (Daimler CA)
– Mercedes-Benz Corporate S (Daimler CS)
Having watched hundreds of Mercedes-Benz AG adverts, it appears the common font choice for copyright disclaimers, and Mercedes’ demo videos is Daimler CS. With Daimler CA reserved for headings and subtitles.
Color
